Regards the politics, I've only seen nitpicking to destroy the whole in order to not discuss it. I'm not willing to dig deep into a history lesson when people don't believe that war requires not only diplomacy, but doubled-down diplomacy.

Contrast President Putin to most Western 'leaders": True diplomats do not insult or smear others with whom they may have to deal with in the future. President Putin and other Russian leaders are true diplomats, willing to resolve disputes with civility and diplomacy. The West/Genocidal Israel has almost no such leaders. The West only has diletantes masquerading as statesmen. Sad times for the West.

To your point, he also doesn’t disclose what was said to hm in confidence either. As you say, the difference between the two approaches is stark.

Yes, great point. President Putin never relates what he was told in a private conversation, in contrast to, say, current French President Macron, whom I would not tell anything in confidence. And neither will President Putin, anymore. Our Western 'leaders' are a sad but also very funny shit show.

I'm rewatching Fargo for escape. One of the characters, a mother, says something like, "I've had shits I'd rather live with than my children." Well, that's most US and UK politicians for me.

Andrew has been doing some deeper dives into topics brought up by Putin.

No idea how solid it it, but feels at least that it has toe holds for further checking should anyone feel inclined.

And if you'd like to see the places described...a Putin History Site Tour
