"Please save lives, save lives, save lives!"
Riyad Mansour begged UN members to stop Israel’s war on Gaza.
“7000 Palestinians have been killed by Israel in the past 3 weeks. 70% were women and children. Is this the war some of you are defending?
This is the equivalent of 28,000 Israeli’s killed, including 12,000 children… Why some feel so much pain for Israeli’s and so little pain for us, the Palestinians? What is the problem? Do we have the wrong faith? The wrong skin colour?
Please save lives, save lives, save lives.”
Yesterday, the United Nations General Assembly began a two-day emergency session with the goal of breaking the Security Council’s deadlock over Gaza. By deadlock I mean the USA using its undemocratic veto power to allow the death of Palestinian civilians.
Riyad Mansour, Palestine’s representative to the UN, began with the impassioned plea shown in the video above. A summary of subsequent events and speakers is on the UN’s page.
Read a digest of the previous resolutions to know that they never took a side in the war. They were aimed at civilians not soldiers. Consequently, previous vetoes by the USA, UK and France were about bias and not the peace that the UN claims to stand for.
Similarly, the resolution by the USA was the exception, equating Israel’s destruction of civilian homes as “self defence”, the most repeated propaganda line by Western Media.
NEW RESOLUTION
Jordan is the fifth country to introduced a resolution on the crisis. A final draft isn’t available but a previous version refers to Israel as an occupying power, calls for a ceasefire, a humanitarian corridor, for hostages to be released, and for “Israel to revoke its call for northern Gaza’s evacuation”.
Note that Israel is bombing Southern Gaza where it told 1,1-million Palestinians to evacuate to!
Because the vote on the resolution involves the General Assembly and not the Security Council, it’s only symbolic. But, later today, accepted or rejected, we’ll know where the world stands instead of only the superpowers. Those who abstain must be remembered for their cowardice.
ISRAELI CITIZENS WERE MISTAKENLY & DELIBERATELY KILLED BY ISRAELI FORCES
‘What really happened on 7th October’ will be the most important article you’ll read this week. Karen Gordo summarised it as:
“It covers the Israeli response as causing more Israeli civilian deaths than Palestinian marauders. The damage at Be’eri Kibbutz was beyond the capacity of Palestinians. The concert grounds are covered as well, including that an Israeli tank and troops were sent there (crossfire). Also that not all the invasion forces were even Hamas. The new information from an Israeli witness of Israelis killing their own people, and the statement of a released hostage is included. A truly one-stop shop for all the latest Israeli narrative busting stories.”
The Be’eri Kibbutz massacre is particularly an eye-opener. Plus there was an non-judicial execution of an Israeli after he was mistaken as Palestinian, emphasising hate superceding the justice process. Released hostages state how well they were treated by Hamas (who were obviously looking for leverage and good publicity, as opposed to Israeli/USA false propaganda about beheaded babies and raped women dragged through the streets).
UPDATE 28 OCT
There have been a lot of developments which you can view at ‘World vs USA’.
The US, UK and France are led by war criminals and human garbage.
UNITED NATIONS VOTE UPDATE:
"Adoption of a non-binding Jordanian resolution on Friday afternoon in New York by a large majority of Member States, with 120 votes in favour, 14 against and 45 abstentions.
It marks the first formal response of the United Nations to the escalation of violence in Israel and Palestine since the Hamas terror attacks of 7 October, after the Security Council failed on four occasions to reach consensus on any action.
Friday’s key things you need to know:
Assembly adopted a major resolution, calling for an “immediate, durable and sustained humanitarian truce leading to a cessation of hostilities”; it was proposed by Jordan and backed by over 45 Member States.
An amendment, proposed by Canada and backed by over 35 Member States, including the US, seeking an explicit condemnation of Hamas, did not pass, failing to get two-thirds support
Countries put forward arguments for and against the amendment, and explained their positions on the adopted resolution
Earlier in the day, several countries took the floor, reiterating the impact of the crisis on civilians and underscoring the imperative to ensure aid finally flows into the enclave as supplies of food, water and fuel reach critically low levels
The US declared that after the current crisis is over, ‘there is no going back to the status quo, as it stood on 6 October’, noting the importance of the two-State solution.”
Israel has escalated it’s attack, blocking cellphone and internet connection to Gaza, and sending in tanks.
