This post is perfect timing. Perhaps I better fall and buck that extra dead standing ponderosa as NE Washington winters can be very harsh.

I love watching snow and survivalists and cold apocalypses... on a screen. No desire for in-person experience unless I can be rich and warm indoors writing a book with the world forgotten. I grew up in Durban so we never even had frost. Got stuck on a mountain once, just inside Lesotho. Great experience that taught me "Fuck snow."

As said, love it on a screen. So I waited for a cold day, meaning 12 degrees celsius, and tried to watch that documentary in a 'sympathy' mood. Great kudos to stronger men of yesterday!

Did you watch 'TraumaZone', the docuseries about the fall of communism? If I recall, you commented there. My favourite documentary of the past year. I got lost in that cold, of Winter and corruption.

Yeah I watched much of it felt horrible for all those people. Fall of the empire anyone!? All I can only hope we have a safe landing, somewhere. It's a lot of God darn work burning wood for heat 5> months a year but it keeps me active and there's cabin fever . We snowmobile during these times in and out as there no open roads off the grid. I got a place in Florida's panhandle Beach community I'll go part of the times. Playing in the snow is a younger man game anymore and yes it's fucked.

Two good documentaries to find are 'My Perestroika' (2010) and 'Something Better to Come' (Russia 2014).
