If I lived in Georgia, I'd vote for whichever candidate wasn't backed by the USA.

What happened in Ukraine is not what I'd want to see happen in Georgia. And let's not forget that Zelensky ran on a platform of peace.

Thanks for posting, Mike.

The Georgians are, like most of, not entirely in control of their destiny, and seeking the least worst option instead of utopia. But being in that region, and with the USA wanting the Black Sea and gas pipeline to the east, it's more dangerous for them. Their population is only 3.7m. Takes more juggling skill to be President there than, for example, the Mayor of Cape Town who represents 4.7 million people.

I'm a reasonable person not supporting crazies on either side. You are only a homophobe. Nobody hijacks my page with unreasonable hatred, nor uses it to distort my meaning.

As long as Georgian Dream wins the forthcoming election, there will be no friction with Russia, and no war.

Undoubtedly the CIA and State Department are hard at work casting spells and working magic to topple Georgian Dream, who won't dance to the tune of the US fiddle, no doubt that if Georgian Dream should win the election, they will be accused by the US of manipulating the election and election result.

Previous US colour revolutions failed in Georgia, as did the US attempt to topple Georgian Dream over the legislation to passed requiring reporting the source of funding for NGO's and political parties.

Georgia has of late benefitted financially immensely from the shipping of goods through Georgia, to Russia, with virtually permanent queues of trucks waiting to cross the border into Russia.

Hopefully the recent snub of Georgia's EU membership by the EU, has brought Georgian's to the point of realisation that entry into the EU will be a carrot continuously dangled in front of Georgia, but never to be eaten, and that they would be better off applying for BRICS membership.

I cannot pretend anything but a surface knowledge of Georgian complexity, but Georgian Dream would appear to be the safer bet, though that should not excuse them from criticism. The election rhetoric, from all the major parties, is over-the-top, aimed at fueling passion instead of tackling the economy which is where they're hurting (as are most of us).

Well joining BRICS and having an even better relationship with Russia can serve to improve their economy.

Joining the EU will most definitely not improve matters for Georgia, just look at the state of the economies of the majority of EU members, most of them are in recession whilst all BRICS economies with the exception of South Africa, are flying.

BRICS is not exclusive, in that those countries will work with all the regular institutions too. It's leverage. I'm interested to see which countries join next. Will happen soon. Yep, EU sucks cause its not for Europeans, but for political ideology and those profiteering.

A very useful post on yet another war.

Georgia is one of the many places I know too little about.

It seems the war is very fashionable these days,

This definitely get a restack.

Thanks, Mike

I’d love to visit all these little places. They’re incredibly fascinating, their cultures having survived empires trampling them for thousands of years. America couldn’t save its culture when faced with just 30 years of internet advertising.

On a very positive note we are having a strike of the Teamsters Union staring tomorrow.

This has the potential of slowing down our arms shipments,.

Could the path to peace be seen through Union strikes?

I commented somewhere, yesterday, that Americans will care more about this strike than dead foreigners. The path to a more peaceful world is to hit American pockets. You are the consumer society, so recession would diminish your appetite.

Last words after cutting off the 12 year old: “And, understandably, there are gray areas in war”

That could be a tagline for The Grayzone…
