I've deliberately skipped major issues (and I'm talking about reading, not writing which is more distant than me). Yesterday, I spent an hour reading Karen Gordo's latest post, and that gave me all I needed regarding Telegram etc. She did the work of capturing news snippets, and I saved myself a week.
Fascist on the right,and on the left is not new in the USA.
