I assume you're asking why the Western elite are allowing it. That Netanhayu's a rabid dog the USA can't control is a narrative distracting from that question. Maybe because the future is the USA vs China. A weakened Europe and a destabilised Middle East (without Israel) helps maintain that focus.

Beirut is far away to most of us. We still feel protected by having an ocean on the East and West of us.
