Yes, I did read somewhere that the story of the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto is inspiration for many Christians and Moslems in the Gaza Ghetto because it is about choosing to die on one's feet instead of living on one's knees.

I doubt the article could be found anymore with the reference to the Warsaw Ghetto.

You never tried searching e.g. Gaza Warsaw Ghetto (and limit search to past month).

Great thanks. I did not even have to limit search but found fewer words works best.

And while I found it, the section saying that if Jews had broken out of the Warsaw Ghetto and found Germans dancing outside they would also have killed (or attacked) them has been deleted.

You're slandering Jews escaping a prison?

Although I never had the time, I read that long article because it was excellent.

Not sure how you got there. When I first read the article she said that if Jews had broken out of the Warsaw Ghetto, they would no doubt have reacted the same to any dancing Germans on the other side.

She was saying that Christians and Muslims breaking out of the Gaza Ghetto, finding Israelis dancing and celebrating on the other side, in attacking their oppressors were doing nothing different to what the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto would probably have done.

How does that slander Jews? The reference made a point that the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto and the Christians and Muslims in the Gaza Ghetto had the same experiences and would no doubt have had the same reactions.

I did not say it, Masha Gessen said it, although that reference has clearly been deleted because it is no longer in the article.

And it would have been deleted because of the kickback Gessen would have received saying that the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto and those in the Gaza Ghetto were in the same situation of oppression, i.e. that the Germans occupiers equated with the Israeli occupiers.

That is not slandering Jews escaping a prison, that is saying anyone escaping such a horror would have the same human reactions. The only thing that 'slanders' is the concept of exceptional Jewish suffering and persecution.

And that will not be allowed.

I didn't understand the context from so short a sentence. I'm sensitive to people sometimes having agendas, as I've had a problem with that before. I'm glad you don't. You've explained. And, in between, I went to your substack to see what you believe. No identity but your words are good, and appreciated, and thus I shared.

Sorry about that, the medium is cryptic and guarantees misunderstandings. I probably do have agendas but my views and interests rest on basic defense of principles of justice, rule of law, human rights, democracy and common human decency. It takes me all over the place. I have been called a right-wing redneck in my time and a tree-hugging leftie looney so I figure I have solid middle ground and bases covered. :)

We''l just have to call you a barkneck :)

I was in a mood, and continually interrupting the newsletter composition because I didn't want to do it. Probably didn't assist my interpretation.
